Mission Formation

The mission formation process encourages and supports churches and individuals in refreshing existing and developing new outreach ministries in their communities.

1. Think

Churches engaged in the mission formation process begin by thinking through best practices for ministry.

This may include . . .

- A trip to Best Practices for Ministry
- Attending a District-sponsored leadership summit
- Contacting nearby churches for mentorship
- A self-study facilitated by District mission formation executive Dr. Phil Johnson

2. Plan

After thinking through their new approach to ministry, churches will begin the planning stage.

They will map out how they will engage with their community, revitalize their congregation, and engage in new mission opportunities with concrete, measurable steps.

3. Act

The last step of mission formation is doing! Once a church has developed a well-informed plan for mission formation, it’s time to hit the pavement.

Want to explore what a ministry partnership in your community or in your circuit might look like?  You are encouraged to contact Dr. Phillip Johnson to arrange an exploratory conversation with your congregational leadership team. Together we can identify what your next steps in mission and ministry might be, to the extension of the Kingdom of God and all to the glory of God.
