What is To All Generations?

In 2015, our district in convention approved a resolution that began an effort to enhance the quality of our Christian education, both in the parish and in schools, through a fundraising appeal. This became known as To All Generations.

With the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 145:4, we find these meaningful words: “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” And so it is that in our churches and schools and in our homes, the faith that professes Jesus Christ as Lord has been passed down from generation to generation.  We are thankful for the many faithful donors that have given and continue to give to To All Generations Appeal.

To All Generations encourages a renewed emphasis in Christian Education by making available grants to target new ideas & strategies beyond the scope of normal church/school budgeting.  Ministries are able to apply for grants to help fund what they would not be able to fund within their normal budgets.  Specifically, three areas of grant focus were identified:

  1. to strengthen education ministries, including enhancing the quality of Lutheran schools, encouraging opportunities in parish education, planting new schools and early childhood centers, and supporting educational leadership

  2. develop unified marketing strategies

  3. increase efforts toward parental choice in education

To All Generations grant applicants are also encouraged to maximize grant dollars by utilizing collaborative efforts between education ministries.

2025 Grant Requests

The 2025 Grant Request Application window IS OPEN! How can your congregation or school develop and strengthen your education ministries, enhance your marketing strategies, or increase efforts towards parental choice in education?

This year there will be $45,000 available to be granted!

  • Short Form - to be used for grant requests up to and including $5,000

  • Long Form - to be used for grant requests over $5,000

TO ALL GENERATIONS (TAG) 2024 GRANT RECIPIENTS

The Minnesota South District, through the Schools and Commissioned Ministers Committee, awards grants through To All Generations (TAG). The goal is to cultivate a stronger commitment to Christian education.

The recipients of the 2024 TAG grants are listed below. Click the “+” next to each school to read the details of each award.

  • St. John's will receive marketing coaching and education through a professional organization in order to develop effective marketing strategies. This will equip the school to compete for new students to provide them with a nurturing environment rooted in faith & academic excellence.

  • The grant money will replace & update robots used in their competition robotics program. This non-sport based extracurricular encourages and supports real world technology applications and offers enhanced STEM education.

  • With the support of TAG, the school will increase faith outreach to families & caregivers through ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) faith-based learning and play experiences. The grant will also assist in sponsoring an early education fair in January of 2025.

  • Mayer Lutheran will utilize the money from the grant to cover marketing and other costs associated with establishing a middle school consisting of three grades (Grades 6-8). This is an outreach-oriented project as the students will come from the greater community.

  • Messiah has had a preschool ministry for over 50 years and is now seeking to expand the ministry to an Early Childhood Education Center, providing service and ministry to infants, toddlers, and their families. The grant allows the purchase of materials to open a new room for this age group.

  • St. Michael's will use the grant money to diversify marketing efforts to increase enrollment and expand class offerings.
